Melissa’s first career aspiration was to be an “artist”—lucky for her, she had her father for a role model as a working artist. Melissa is a self employed graphic designer & illustrator living in the Bay Area. She has been collaborating with clients whose missions align with her’s of creating a more equitable, sustainable and just world since graduating from RISD in 2010. And she loves working with At The Well!
“One of my favorite parts of the creative process is it’s ever evolving nature. For this piece although I had a general concept when I began, I let the process inform my outcome. Working with At The Well since close to it’s inception I knew I had to celebrate mama moon. I have always loved collage as a medium, it’s probably the first type of art I really enjoyed making as a kid. Over the past few years I have been really drawn to watercolors, only recently I started making my own watercolor textures and creating collages from them. Art and spirituality feel completely entwined to me, when I am creating I feel connected to my true nature. I think that any time a human is creating something from nothing it is one of the closest ways they can tap into the god/goddess nature within them.”
